Adhesives are reproducible quality products. Bonding errors in industrial bonding are largely caused by application errors. The standard DIN 2304 “Adhesive bonding technology - Quality requirements for adhesive bonding processes” / ISO 21368 “Adhesives - Guidelines for the manufacture of bonded structures and reporting methods suitable for the risk assessment of such structures” provides users from all areas of industry and trade with a system for mastering adhesive bonding processes across all process steps.
While EN 17460 / DIN 6701 applies to all bondings, adhesive classes and material combinations in the rail vehicle sector, DIN 2304 / ISO 21368 applies to all force-transmitting bondings in all other sectors where adhesive bonding technology is used, such as the automotive industry, boat and shipbuilding, the electrical appliances and electronics industry and the construction industry.
Both standards place greater responsibility on the user and define the binding state of the art in product safety law for the professional implementation of adhesive bonding processes. They define both the requirements for the quality execution of adhesive bonds and the organizational, contractual and manufacturing principles for the production of adhesive bonds.
Certification basis
The following regulations and documents form the basis for company certification in accordance with DIN 2304:
Certification process
The auditing of the company and the subsequent issuing of the certificate is based on the above-mentioned certification principles. You will find an initial overview of the requirements and the certification process in our initial information presentation.
Applying for certification
To apply for initial certification or recertification (re-certification after expiry of an existing certificate), please use the current version of the “Application form DIN 2304”.
After receipt of the complete certification application, you can request our documentation on the DIN 2304 certification procedure and our DIN 2304 evaluation plan. The document “Certification procedure DIN 2304” sets out the principles and conditions for certification as well as the rights and obligations of the certificate holders. The “DIN 2304 Evaluation Plan” reflects the requirements of the DIN 2304-1 standard and is the basis for auditing.
Issue, publication and use of certificates and certification marks
With successful completion of the certification process, the company receives a printed certificate. Furthermore, an entry is made in the so-called “DIN 2304 online register”. This is where all valid DIN 2304 certificates are stored in a central database that can be accessed via the Internet. Only the entry of the certificate in the DIN 2304 online register www.din2304.de is recognized as proof of certification and the scope of certification. This must be taken into account, for example, when checking supplier certificates.
Furthermore, all certificate holders also receive the right to use the certification mark within the scope of our sign statutes.
